The Promise You Break to Yourself Makes it Too Easy to Break Others

Apr 14, 2022 | Business

The promise you break to yourself . . . makes it too easy to break others.

The start of my day is a little before 6 am. Mostly. IF I’m in bed reading my latest book by 10 pm.

Otherwise, I lose 1-2 extra hours of total clarity in the morning.
Regardless of the number of hours, I sleep.

I know myself.

And like many of my business owner clients my “mostly” can turn into “not very often” or not at all.

We all know how easy THAT is to do.

The slide towards breaking promises to key people starts to seem easier as well.

So from experience I know the promise I keep to “me” is more important than any other promise I’ll make.

It’s THE key that unlocks trust in a relationship.

I don’t beat myself up when I break a promise to myself.

That’s a waste of time.

I do reach out to an accountability partner or at the least, place it on my calendar as an essential priority.

What do you do when you break a promise to yourself?

And how do you get back on the self-commitment horse when you fall off?

I’d really like to know.
